Christmas 2011, Christmas Day Dinner
6 stone loss. May 2013
I can’t believe how long its been since I posted on here, I kind of forgot all about it as I have been busy following the diet and made friends on a Diet Forum called Minimins. Its been a massive support and I have a laugh with all the girls.
But to update anyone that has read this so far, I will tell you right now this diet works…with a capital W. I am within a few pounds of my True Weight, having lost just over 6 stone. Yes I had the planned cheat on my birthday. I totally lost it at Christmas for over a week and put 6lb back on and took two months to lose it, a minor cheat on Easter Sunday and apart from the occasional stolen chip off the plates of my daughter and hubby I have really stuck to it.
There have been days when its been so hard and I have struggled, days when I have found the pull of the sweets or chocs almost too much to bare. BUT…I did it.
If you are looking to do a diet then Dukan is the way to go. Buy the book, read it cover to cover, look up a good support forum, plan your menus, stock up the freezer and fridge and go for it. Even if you only do it for a month the likelihood is that you will lose so much that you don’t want to stop.
A very up and down week this week. I lost a good amount over two days and then put it back on. I don’t really know what it was though I have been taking antibiotics this week, though I’m not convinced thats the reason. But a loss is a loss, I was hoping to hit 25lb for my birthday on Friday, which was my new target having reached 21lb last week.
I’m in two minds as to whether or not to weigh each day this week and see what the surprise is on Friday. Mainly because I was so disappointed last week on the days that I gained. Having said that if I hadn’t weighed every day and I got to the end of the week and saw I’d only lost a quarter of a pound I would have been devastated.
I’m actually planning a little cheat on Friday, after all if you can’t cheat on your birthday when can you LOL. So i am going to have a Jacket Potato (homegrown), and an ice cream. I might might just stretch to two chocolates After all the chocs I’ve been bought or given this last two months I have missed out on them all, either giving them away or putting away, so i’m thinking hmmmm birthday chocolates LOL. Does it sound too much for cheating, i don’t know. But I do know that I won’t be having a massive potato (don’t think they’ve grown that much 🙂 ) One Ice Cream Lolly and Two Chocolates. I am very confident that I can get back to it as normal on Saturday and that regardless of what damage i do on the scales i will own my own mistakes.
We’re going to Yorkshire Wildlife Centre on Thursday and I’ve already planned my food to take. Its a PP day and its probably a bit easier it being that. I’m going to make some beef patties, chicken tikka strips and plain beef strips. A couple of boiled eggs, crabsticks and I will have some of my Dukan bread. That should cover a full day of eating with anything left over being saved for Supper.
See you next time, thanks for reading xx
A good week this week, am very pleased with my loss which now means I have lost
A stone and a half lost, in 6 full weeks on the diet. I was aiming for at least this loss by 10th August, so now I need to give myself a new aim. 🙂
I’ve had a few good feeling moments this week.
I’ve settled into a rhythm now with oatbran & wheatbran allowances, on PP days I have a Dukan Bread roll and on PV days I have muffins. All with half my allowances so I can still have my porridge. All of which help to fill me up in the day.
I’ve discovered a new favourite meal, for any day. I use chopped crabsticks, prawns, smoked salmon. Mix it all together. Add to 2 beaten eggs and 100g of cottage cheese. Mix all together well and then bake in an oven at about 200 C for about 20 mins. Its very filling.
I keep forgetting to drink. I started the week really well drinking nearly 3 litres each day, but for the last few days my intake has dropped. I had a horrid snotty cold at the start of the week and I think that maybe the drinks helped my throat.
I discovered some weight watchers cordial, less than 0.1g of fat and less than 1g of carbs in a glassful. So I’ve been drinking these in a bid to up my fluids. I do struggle quite a bit with plain boring water, its ok having a small glass whilst I take some tablets, or just to quench thirst in that moment, but to drink cup after cup of it is difficult.
I have tried not to drink too much coke, simply because I think it is bloating me at the moment, having said that there are other reasons for bloat too, hopefully a few more days and I will feel a bit more normal 🙂 whatever that is.
I’ve also found some flavoured chewing gum. I don’t mind the mint ones, but lets face it, just occasionally you need a sweet taste fix and the fruit ones help. I’m not eating loads of them, just a couple a day but I will be keeping an eye on the weight and if I seem to stall then the chewing gum and cordial will have to be put away.
Have got some seafood quiches for lunch, looking forward to them as I’ve put lots of different things in it. Lets hope the rest of the family likes them, otherwise I’ve got more to eat….yum yum, second thoughts maybe I’ll keep them for myself LOL.
Right time for lunch….have waited long enough…
A loss this week, 1.5lb. Been a rollercoaster week with the weight. I lost and put on almost alternately, but not always one day after the other. I did go out for tea though on Saturday with friends, and I had a Carvery meal. Melt in the mouth Beef and Turkey with veggies on offer. Unfortunately there wasn’t a huge choice, peas and corn as usual, which i didn’t touch. Cauliflower with a cheese sauce on the top, and swede/carrott. So i decided I would have some of the cauli, reckoning that a bit of sauce couldn’t do loads of damage. Hmmm apart from the fact I also had 3/4lt of coke, which bloated me up, I had stomach ache later on that night. I think it was the cheese sauce and coke combined. Lovely meal though, and in future will look to filling up with other veg if on offer.
Its the start of the summer holidays from school here in the UK, and has been an absolutely roasting day, hopefully not the only one, considering recent weather…and I’ve been stuck inside. I’ve come down with a cold which is heating me up without the need to go outside. I did manage to get some washing out though LOL.
I’ve made some Dukan bread tonight using a recipe my Mum gave me, hmmm note to self, put greaseproof paper on the bottom of the pan before pouring mixture in. I’ve had a devil of a job getting it out of the tin. I think for next time though, i am going to see about buying a 4 portioned yorkshire pudding tin, this means i could have it as small round bread buns and would be easier to portion up with the oatbran used. I used rosemary and thyme herbs and the smell is divine.
On a seperate note, but staying with baking, I made some microwave muffins the other day, from a recipe I got of the minimins website. Its a great forum and there are loads of recipes, hints, tips and advise.
This is the recipe:
Mix all ingredients well, it should be gloopy but not liquid and distribute into silicone cupcake/muffin cases. Mine made 9 the first time and 10 the second…using a desertspoon at a time. But the recipe said 8. It will depend how much you want them to rise and how many you want to eat in the day.
Place in a circle on the turntable and microwave for 4 mins. Mine is 900w and i actually did them for 3min 45sec.
Immediately turn them out onto a rack to cool, don’t worry if the bottoms look as though they are wet, its condensation and will dry. Leave to cool. The longer you leave them out the drier they get. Quite a spongey texture. I split the muffins over two days, storing the second days worth in a bag in the fridge.
I have them with sweetened quark and goji berries as a supper. They are just thick enough to slice across in half to layer with the quark. Pic below
